    摘要: A powder metallurgy cold-work tool steel article of hot isostatic compacted nitrogen atomized, prealloyed powder. The alloy of the article includes the addition of niobium, which combined with the use of gas atomization, results in a fine carbide size distribution. This in turn results in improved bend fracture strength and impact toughness. In addition, as a result of isostatic compaction of nitrogen gas atomized prealloyed powder a fine distribution of carbides results to obtain a microstructure that achieves both improved toughness and wear resistance.

    摘要: An austenitic stainless steel article, preferably in the form of a tubing. The article has a passivated surface layer, which in the case of a tubing is on the interior surface of the tubing. The passivated surface layer has an oxide component having Fe 2 O 3 and Cr 2 O 3 and a metal component of Fe with zero valence and Cr with zero valence. The ratio of the oxide component to the metal component is in excess of 8:1.

    摘要: A method for producing selected grades of rare earth element containing permanent magnets. A plurality of particle batches of rare earth element containing permanent magnet alloys are produced with each having a different chemical composition and different magnetic properties. These batches are blended in varying amounts to achieve particle mixtures that when processed to produce magnets will exhibit selected combinations of magnetic properties different from those of each particle batch and different from each other mixture. Selected mixtures are used to produce a selected grade of a rare earth element containing permanent magnet.
