The invention concerns a method which consists in scanning a part (1) surface (1a) by means generating a heat input producing heat influx in at least a heating zone (2) which is moved at the surface (1a) of the part (1) by the relative displacement of the part (1) and the heat influx means. A detector senses the flux radiated by the surface (1a) of the part (1) in a detection zone (3) displaced synchronously with the displacement of the heating zone (2). The detector supplies, for each position of a set of successive positions of the detection zone, a signal representing the radiated flux. The surface of the part is scanned following a predetermined path, in a first direction of displacement, then in a second direction of displacement opposite to the first, at an identical scanning speed. For each of the successive positions of the detection zone (3), a differential signal is produced by subtracting the signals obtained when scanning in one direction and in the other direction of the part (1) surface (1a).

The invention refers to a method of manufacturing a ceramic composite material comprising matrix and reinforcing materials and an intermediate weak interface material, said composite material being particularly intended for use at temperatures above 1400 DEG C and in oxidizing environment, the matrix and reinforcing materials consisting of the same or different ceramic oxides having a melting point above 1600 DEG C, and the interface material providing in combination with said materials a stress field liable to micro-cracking. The invention now suggests that the reinforcing fibre material is immersed into a powder slurry containing carbon (C) and ZrO2 so as to be coated thereby and then dried, after which the composite material is subjected to green forming and densification steps as known per se, and finally a heat-treatment in air leaving a porous structure of the interface material.

The invention concerns a method for producing a flame support for a gas burner, which consists in producing disjointed metal fibres (10) in an alloy comprising iron, chromium and aluminium; assembling the fibres together under pressure; bringing the fibre mat to a temperature sufficient to ensure a close bonding between the fibres. The invention is characterised in that it consists in feeding said metal alloy to an overflowing tank (3), to produce the fibres by cooling in contact with a mobile wheel (7); then in arranging in a moulding matrix the resulting disjointed fibres (10) and compressing them to form an agglomerated mat; then in connecting the mat to electrodes and a capacitor, thereby bringing the fibres (10), at their points of contact, to a temperature not less than their melting point, to produce fibres closely welded together, under high voltage.
