摘要:
The method uses a starting material which is a liquid mixture consisting of a formaldehyde proportion comprised between 48 and 55 % by weight, a methanol proportion comprised between 20 and 30 % by weight and a water proportion comprised betweeen 32 and 15 % by weight; the liquid mixture is obtained from a tapping which is effected from a plant for the continuous preparation of urea-formaldehyde resins and glues, immediately after having subjected the methanol to catalytic oxidation via air, condensation of the gases evolving from said catalytic oxidation and separation between condensed products and uncondensed gases. These solutions may be applied to formaldehyde reactions wherein it is of interest to reduce the amount of water present in conventional solutions and also to use the methanol for example as solvent for the final product obtained.

The plant is provided with a first rotary reactor (2) where the balls of urea cyanurate are formed and a second reactor (8) where the pyrolysis takes place. The first reactor (2) is provided with an internal helical fin (4) and the second reactor (8) is also rotary. At the exit thereof there is a communication tube (12) placing it in communication with a solids separator vessel (14) which receives an aqueous solution capable of reaching a working level, below which there is the access port (20) of the tube (12) to the vessel (14). The vessel is provided with a lower drain valve (26) and an upper gas exhaust tube (22).

The process comprises impregnation of first sheets of paper with a first aqueous resin having a solids content of 30-60 % of urea-melamine-formaldehyde resin; from 4-10 % of a plasticizer; a surfactant wetting agent; a catalyst, and a mould stripping agent; impregnation of second sheets of paper with a second aqueous resin having a solids content of from 30-60 % of urea-melamine-formaldehyde resin; 0-8 % of a plasticizer; a surfactant wetting agent; a catalyst and a mould stripping agent, this impregnation until the sheets have a resin solids content of 30-60 % and a volatiles content of 5-7 %; forming an ensemble with a first sheet of paper, a second sheet of paper, a board, a second sheet of paper and a first sheet of paper; and pressing the ensemble, the press surface being at a temperature ranging from 130 to 180 °C

The process uses a supply column (3) and additional heat exchangers (10, 11, 13) associated with absorption columns (8). Air and methanol from outside and a subcurrent of methanol, originating from a cold methanol current exiting from the supply column (3), are fed to the supply column (3). This exiting current recirculates through the additional heat exchangers (10, 11, 13) and is divided into the subcurrent which returns to the supply column (3) and another subcurrent which is fed to an evaporator (4). A methanol-air mixture exits from the head of the supply column (3) and is fed to an evaporator (4). The cold methanol is cooled in the supply column (3) by evaporation of the methanol forming part of the methanol-air mixture.

The process comprises providing a formaldehyde solution at a concentration of 80-89 %; heating the solution to a temperature of 80-100 °C; pouring the heated solution over heated zones on a metal belt conveyor travelling from the heated zones to other, chilled zones. The formaldehyde solution is preferably previously mixed with a catalyst.
