A nozzle plate which exhibits excellent ink repellency and excellent durability to wiping, even when used with an ink that adheres readily to the nozzle plate is provided. A method for forming a silicone-based cured film on the ink discharge surface of a nozzle plate for an inkjet printer, the method comprising: (1) a step of preparing a condensation-type silicone composition containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of bismuth compounds and cyclic amidine compounds, (2) a step of applying this condensation-type silicone composition to the ink discharge surface of the nozzle plate to form a coating film, and (3) a step of heating and curing this coating film.

An ink remaining amount calculation method calculates an ink discharge amount according to the rpm of a drive motor of an ink supply pump for sucking ink from an ink container and discharging the ink and calculates the ink remaining amount by subtracting the ink discharge amount from the whole (initial) ink amount. Even when a different type of ink is used, it is possible to accurately calculate the ink remaining amount. The ink type data is read out and acquired from storage means (5) of an ink container (4). Remaining amount calculation means (22) corrects the discharge amount of a predetermined standard ink per unit rpm according to the ink type acquired and accumulatively subtracts the corrected discharge amount multiplied by the operation time from the whole ink amount of the ink container (4) so as to obtain the remaining amount.

A water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion ink for stencil printing is provided, which is excellent in emulsion stability and drying, high in printing density and low in blurring and seep through. The W/O emulsion ink has an oil phase and a water phase, in which an acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is contained together with a water-insoluble colorant in said water phase. The acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is preferably an acid anhydride containing olefin copolymer, more specifically, an isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, or an acid anhydride containing vinyl copolymer, more specifically, a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer. Preferably, the oil phase comprises at least a solvent and an emulsifier, and the water phase comprises a water-in-oil (O/W) emulsion of resin and/or a water-soluble resin.

[Objective] To realize a non aqueous pigment ink that contributes to conservation of electricity, is superior in low temperature adaptability and storage stability, that suppresses print bleed through and achieves high printing density. [Constitution] A non aqueous solvent includes a hydrocarbon based non polar solvent at 50% by mass or more with respect to the total amount of solvent. The non aqueous resin is an acrylic series polymer having a comb shaped structure, in which alkyl groups having carbon numbers within a range from 8 to 18 and urethane groups form side chains on a (meth) acrylate main chain. The acrylic series polymer is a copolymer of an alkyl (meth) acrylate (A) having alkyl groups with a carbon number within a range from 8 to 18, a reactive (meth) acrylate (B) having functional groups that react with amino groups, and a monomer (C) having one of ²-diketone groups and ²-keto acid ester groups, into which the urethane groups are introduced by reactions between the functional groups that react with amino groups, amino alcohol, and a multivalent isocyanate compound. The mass ratio between the copolymer moiety and the urethane group moiety in the acrylic series polymer is within a range from 80:20 to 99:1.

An in jet printer comprising a belt conveying section (106) for conveying a print sheet (2) on a circulating conveyance belt (106a), a pair of resist rollers (111) and a BU roller (112) for feeding the print sheet (2) while flexing it in the conveying direction, and first and second ink jet heads (104a, 104b) for ejecting ink toward the print sheet, wherein the ink jet head (104b) ejects ink darker in color than ink ejected from the ink jet head (104a). The ink jet head (104b) is located at a position farther than the arriving position of the print sheet (2) when the print sheet (2) is displaced from the conveyance belt (106a) in the conveying direction as the elasticity of the print sheet (2) due to flexure exceeds adhesion between the print sheet (2) and the conveyance belt (106a), and the ink jet head (104a) is arranged between the ink jet head (104b) and the BU roller (112). Consequently, print quality can be sustained with high speed printing by using an ink jet head and reduction in printer size achieved.

A system for carrying a stencil paper fed out from a stencil paper roll in which expansion/shrinkage of an image being subjected to plate making on the carried stencil paper is avoided. A residual quantity calculating means (65) calculates the residual quantity of the stencil paper roll by subtracting the length of a plate subjected to plate making accumulatively from the overall length of the stencil paper roll (21b) stored in the storage means (70) thereof. Rotational speed of a platen roller (23) is controlled to increase rotation of a light pulse motor as the residual quantity decreases and a slip carrying distance on the platen roller due to back tension being applied to the stencil paper is compensated for thus carrying the stencil paper at a constant carrying speed.

An electric stapler (1) has a stapling mechanism which is connected to a power source through a switch and staples a sheet stack (3) inserted into a throat (4). An actuator (7) is adapted to abut against an edge of a sheet stack (3) at a plurality of positions along the edge of the sheet stack (3) and to be moved by the sheet stack (3) in response to insertion thereof to an operative position where it operates the switch (11) to actuate the stapling mechanism. A sub-actuator (20) is positioned in front of the actuator (7) and is movable between an erected position where it stands into the sheet stack insertion passage to abut against a sheet stack (3) when the sheet stack (3) is inserted into the throat (4) and a horizontal position where it is retracted from the sheet stack insertion passage not to abut against a sheet stack (3). The sub-actuator (20) is adapted to abut against a pair of adjacent edges (3b,3c) of a sheet stack forming a corner of the sheet stack (3) when it is in the erected position and is movable to drive the actuator (7) to said operative position pushed by the sheet stack (3) as the sheet stack (3) is further inserted into the throat (4).
