The invention relates to an oil boom of the kind which includes an elongated hose-like buoyant body and internal boom-distending elements in the form of inflatable annular hoses attached to the buoyant body. The annular hoses extend generally around the inner circumference of the buoyant body and when inflated to their state of use distend the body into a hose-like shape. The annular hoses are mutually connected pressure-wise through the medium of other elongated hose elements. The oil boom is characterized in that at least when transported to its intended deployment site, the boom is in a rolled-up state or in some other packaged state which forms a boom pack that is held together by suitable means; and in that the annular hoses and their connecting hose elements are filled with air or some other appropriate gas at a pressure which when the boom is deployed and the boom-pack securing means have been loosened or released will cause the boom pack to expand explosively to achieve its effective state of use and therewith essentially its full length. The pressure in the boom pack is preferably 10-20% higher than the predetermined pressure of the boom in its state of use.

The invention relates to a shallow-draft watercraft having the ability to withstand impact stresses caused by upwardly travelling water movement corresponding to a shock factor (CF) of up to about 1.5. The watercraft comprises at least one superstructure, which is intended to be located above the surface of the water, at least two pontoons which float on the water, and devices for supporting the superstructure. The watercraft is characterized in that the pontoons are gas-tight and gas-filled and of a substantially cylindrical and elongated configuration. The pontoon walls include several layers of material, of which at least one layer inwardly of the outermost layer is a reinforcing layer. The reinforcing layer includes threads which are wound in at least three directions, wherein the material layers are disposed so that the pontoons are rigid with regard to bending, transversely acting forces and axial rotation, provided that an overpressure prevails within the gas-filled pontoons. The superstructure supporting devices rest on the pontoons, essentially transversely to the longitudinal axis of the pontoons.

The invention relates to a road surface marking tape intended for temporary use and being of the kind that includes a base-layer of non-cured or non-vulcanized soft elastomeric material, and reinforcing material embedded in the base layer. The reinforcing material is comprised of short fibres of non-metallic material distributed generally uniformly in the base layer in an amount corresponding to 5-50 %, preferably 10-20 % of the weight of the base layer. The reinforcing material is preferably comprised of fibres of fabric, plastic or carbon with lengths generally between 0.5 and 5 mm, preferably between 1 and 3 mm. The elastomeric material is usually a rubber of the acrylnitrile-butadiene type. The invention also relates to a method of temporarily marking the surface of a road or highway with the aid of the inventive tape, wherein the tape is applied to said surface in the form of an elongated web taken from a tape reel with the aid of an appropriate mechanical tape-laying device, and removed when the traffic markings are no longer required, by freezing the tape to a brittle state and disintegrating the tape to a powder form and collecting said powder mechanically. Freezing, disintegration and collection of the tape material can be effected mechanically in one single step. The tape is conveniently disintegrated by brushing with a rotating steel brush or the like, and the resultant tape scrap is removed by suction.

The hose is characterized in that the helically-shaped reinforcement has an inner core of plastic material having a predetermined, relatively high melting point, and at least one layer outside the core, this layer being made of a similar plastic material. The layer which lies nearest the outer surface of the core is bonded adhesively thereto, and any further layers that may be included are bonded adhesively to one another in a similar fashion. The outer layer is comprised of a plastic material whose melting point is lower than or equal to the melting point of at least the nearest lying layer or the core, whichever is applicable. The contact region between the rubber-coated fabric and the plastic helix has an adhesion facilitating structure with intimate contact between the plastic helix and the rubber-coated fabric and a partially melted outer plastic layer. The invention also relates to a method for producing the hose.
