摘要： A wireless digital personal communication system (PCS) (10) having a plurality of base stations (14, 20) and portable handset terminals (12), each having a predetermined radio cell coverage area. The radio cell, radio-telephone PCS has a full ISDN Interface. The PCS facilitates direct interconnection and switching of PCS call traffic through the ISDN interface and the PSTN (22). The PCS (10) has voice/data/image, and incoming and outgoing calling capability. The intercell handoff being provided through distributed logic which is implemented in software that is resident in handset terminals (120), base stations (14, 20), and in the PSTN (22). Alternative embodiments include authentication, security including a encryption and decryption techniques, zone grouping and call forwarding.
