The invention manifests a secure, on-demand meet-me conferencing service embodied within a telephone network having an advanced intelligent network (AIN) infrastructure. Centralized control from a service control point of provisioned conferencing bridges located in network switches is effected in the AIN telephone network, thereby overcoming the resource efficiency limitations and corresponding costs of the prior art systems. In addition, it enables the local exchange carrier (LEC) to offer a new type of conferencing service at a lower cost where prior reservation of conferencing facilites is no longer necessary and which possesses other advantages with respect to ease of use, ease of administration, availability and security.

An adjunct call processor connected to a communications network for providing call processing services. The network includes a switching system including a switch for concurrently servicing a plurality of communications paths and a switch controller for controlling the switch, the switch controller being responsive to switching commands communicated to it. The adjunct call processor is coupled to the switching system for (i) automatically receiving a call from a caller which has been switched to the adjunct call processor by the switching system, (ii) interacting with the caller, and (iii) based on that interaction, transmitting one or more of the switching commands to the switching system causing the call to be handled by the switching system externally of the adjunct call processor.

The intercell handoff being provided through distributed logic which is implemented in software that is resident in handset terminals (120), base stations (14, 20), and in the PSTN (22). Alternative embodiments include authentication, security including a encryption and decryption techniques, zone grouping and call forwarding.

A fraud detection system is disclosed for telephone PBX calls. The system includes a fraud data server for buffering the call detail records relating to inbound 800 number calls and outbound international calls. A threshold manager is connected at its input to an output of the fraud data server for detecting numerical counts exceeding preselected threshold values, in predetermined fields of the call detail records, and generates an alarm. The output of the threshold manager is connected to an input of the fraud data server for buffering the alarm incident to respective call detail records. A computer workstation is connected to the fraud data server for receiving packets of call detail records relating to alarm data, in a filtered preselected format. The workstation includes a monitor for displaying the alarm data on a graphical interface.

Eine Vergebührungseinheit (BILL) des Netzbetreibers führt hierbei den Gebühreneinzug für die Nutzung des Telekommunikations-Dienstes durch. Die Diensterbringungseinheit (SAPP1) erbringt den angeforderten Telekommunikations-Dienst erst, wenn sie eine Bestätigungsnachricht von einer Autorisierungseinheit (AUT) des Netzbetreibers empfängt. Additionally, the other code (410) is processed to determine whether the communication unit (200) was authorized to access the communication system (100) within a time interval. This is done by storing speech models of group members' speech signals characterizing the identifier. Then, in response to receipt of a telephone call in which a caller utters the identifier, determining from those speech models whether the caller is a particular member of the group.
