There is described a method for distributing the execution of a management application responsible for performing a management operation upon a network element of a communication network. The communication network comprises a plurality of network elements, and the network element comprises a hardware module. The method comprises: determining whether calculation resources are available at the hardware module for executing the management application; in the affirmative, using the calculation resources for executing the management application; when the calculation resources become unavailable, determining whether further calculation resources are available in the communication network to continue execution of the management application; and in the affirmative, continuing execution of the management application by using the further calculation resources.

A method is described for using a network management protocol in a remote Managed Device management session performed on Managed Objects arranged in at least one Management Information Base. The method includes the steps of: - providing a Reliability Manager block (404a, 404b, 404c) configured to manage a Transaction (T) by providing a set of transactional commands (B (T), C(T), A(T)) on the Managed Objects; - including in the Reliability Manager block (404a, 404b, 404c) a file which contains in temporal order, the list of actions realized by said Transaction; and - associating to the transactional commands (B(T), C(T), A(T)) a complete set of "inverse" operations, which permits to re-build a consistent state of said Managed objects after a failure.
