Modified polyaspartic acids are obtained by polycondensing (a) 1 to 99.9 mol % aspartic acid with (b) 99 to 0.1 mol % fatty acids, polybasic carboxylic acids, anhydrides of polybasic carboxylic acids, polybasic hydroxycarboxylic acids, monobasic polyhydroxycarboxylic acids, alcohols, amines, alkoxylated alcohols and amines, amino sugars, carbohydrates, sugar carboxylic acids and/or non-proteinogenic aminocarboxylic acids, or by polymerising monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of polyaspartic acids, in the manner of radically initiated graft copolymerisation. Also disclosed is a process for preparing these modified polyaspartic acids, as well as the use of these modified polyaspartic acids as additives to washing and cleaning agents, as water conditioning agents and as deposit inhibitors during the condensation of sugar juice.

The invention relates to a detergent and cleaning agent formulation, containing, besides other usual components, a bleaching system based on hydrogen peroxide, peroxo compounds and/or peracids, as well as a mixture of (A) largely biodegradable aliphatic or alicyclic amine with 1-12 C-atoms, which can, in addition, carry hydroxyl groups, and (B) complexing agents having a complexing effect on heavy metals, whereby the weight ratio of A:B ranges from 20:1, in particular from 1:5 to 5:1. The above mixture of amines (A) and complexing agents (B) has a stabilizing effect on the bleaching system.

Excepted is the N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)-2-aminoacethydroxamic acid. The compounds (I) and (II) are suitable as complexing agents for alkaline earth and heavy metal ions, in particular as builders or bleaching agent stabilizers in washing and cleaning products.
