A process is disclosed for preparing polyaspartic acid salts by treating polycondensates in an aqueous medium with bases. At least 0.7 equivalents of an alkaline metal and/or alkaline earth metal base per mole of the aspartic acid, aspartic acid imide and/or amide units contained in the polycondensates are used. The bases are added during 30 minutes to 20 hours to an aqueous suspension of the polycondensates of aspartic acid heated up to 40 to 140 °C, and the reaction mixture is optionally allowed to continue to react. These alkaline metal and/or alkaline earth metal salts of polyaspartic acids obtained by treating aspartic acid polycondensates in an aqueous medium with more than 1 equivalent of an alkaline metal and/or alkaline earth metal base for reducing the molar mass of polycondensates are used as additives for washing and cleaning agents.

The invention concerns condensation products containing N,O-acetal- or carbonamide structures, the products being characterized in that they are obtained by the condensation of (a) compounds containing at least once the structural element (I) or (II) in which X=OH or NHR, R being C1 to C6 alkyl or -CH2-COOH, with (b) aldehydes, ketones or aldehydic or ketonic carboxylic acids to give acetal lactones and by subsequently splitting the acetal lactones with (c) aminocarboxylic acids, primary or secondary amines and/or polyethylenimines to give condensation products containing N,O-acetal- or carbonamide structures. The invention also concerns methods of preparing such products and their use as additives in washing and cleaning agents. The invention further concerns condensation products containing acetal lactone structures produced by reacting (a) hydroxycarboxylic acids or secondary aminoacids with polyhydroxy compounds and condensing with (b) aldehydes, ketones or aldehydic or ketonic carboxylic acids.

The invention also concerns a method of producing polymers containing polyacetal blocks by polymerizing carboxylic acid esters containing aldehyde groups in the presence of initiators and reacting the polyacetals containing terminal hydroxy groups thus obtained with at least bifunctional cross-linking agents, in the presence of acids or Lewis acids, plus the use of the polymers thus obtained as additives in phosphate-free and phosphate-reduced washing and cleaning agents, as scale inhibitors and as dispersants for pigments.

L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de ces esters d'acide citrique comme additifs de produits de lavage et de nettoyage sans phosphates ou pauvres en phosphates.
