The invention relates to polymers which can be obtained by radical polymerisation of a) 30 - 99 wt.- % tert.-butyl acrylate and/or tert.-butyl methacrylate as monomers A, b) 1 - 70 wt.- % acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid as monomers B and c) 0 - 12 wt.- % of a radically copolymerisiable monomer or a radically copolymerisiable monomer mixture as monomer C, whereby at least one of the monomers C provides forms a homopolymer having a glass transition temperature of less than 30 °C, under the proviso that the total wt. % is 100. The K-value of the polymers is between 27 and 38 and polymerisation is carried out in the presence of a regulator when the K-value of the polymer is less than or equal to 35. The invention also relates to the use of said polymers in preparations used, especially, in cosmetics and oral hygiene.
