Abstract:
A monomer composition contains (A) monomers which contain vinyl groups and in which a heteroatom from the group of halogens, nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur or silicium is associated to the vinyl group; and (B) a compound or a mixture of compounds of general formula (II), in which R4 stands for methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, isobutyl, secondary butyl, tertiary butyl or trimethylsilyl.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of water-soluble copolymers consisting of such characteristic structural elements as a) acrylic acid amide of the general formula (I), where R1 et R2 stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, and b) units of the general formula (II), where A represents a chemical bond or an alkyl group, the R3 residues stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arakyl or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are linked, an aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member heterocyclic ring, possibly mono- or polysubstituted, possibly containing one or two more heteroatoms chosen from among O, N or S, and capable of being annelated with another aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member ring, and R4 represents H, alkyl or aralkyl. The invention also pertains to cosmetics containing said polymers.
Abstract:
This invention concerns water-soluble polymers which include units of formula (I) and/or (II) as characteristic structural elements, in which R1 stands for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, R?2 and R3¿ are defined independently from each other as R1 or are selected from among substituted alkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, substituted aryl or substituted aralkyl, wherein the substituents are selected from among OH, O-alkyl, O-aryl, SH, S-alkyl, S-aryl, NH¿2?, NH-alkyl, NH-aryl, N(alkyl)2, optionally in protonated form, N(alkyl)3?+Z-¿, wherein Z stands for the radical of an inorganic or organic acid, COOH, COO-alkyl, CONH¿2?, CONH-alkyl, CON(alkyl)2, CN and SO3H, and the indexes x each stand independently from each other for a whole number from 1 to 20, and the acid addition salts of these polymers; processes for producing these polymers, as well as their use in cosmetic substances.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing high dry strength paper, paperboard or cardboard by separately adding a vinyl amine unit-containing polymer and a polymeric anionic compound to a paper pulp, draining the paper pulp and drying the paper products. The inventive method is characterized by using at least one copolymer as the polymeric anionic compound which is obtained by copolymerizing (a) at least one N-propenoic acid amide of formula (I), wherein R1, R2 = H or C1 to C6 alkyl, (b) at least one acid group-containing monoethylenically unsaturated monomer and/or the alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts or ammonium salts thereof and optionally (c) other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, and optionally (d) compounds that comprise at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bonds in the molecule.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a starch which is modified with at least one cationic polymer and a method for its production, which is characterized in that dry, pourable starch is laid out and the cationic polymer is applied over it without causing the starch particles to stick. The invention further relates to the use of said polymer-modified starches.
Abstract:
Polymers containing β-hydroxy alkyl vinyl amine units obtainable by the reaction of polymers containing vinyl amine units with epoxides of formula (IV) in which R = C2 to C28 alkyl, C1 to C18 alkyl phenyl or C2 to C18 alkenyl, a process for producing the polymers and their use as retention, dewatering and flocullents and as fixers in paper production, a protective colloid in the production of alkyl diketene dispersions or alkenyl succinic acid anhydride dispersions, as emulsifiers in the production of aqueous filler sludges and as corrosion inhibitors.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for eliminating formamide from polymerizates containing N-vinyl formamide units by treating polymerizates which contain formamide and which comprise 1 to 2 molar equivalents of an acid or of a base with regard to 1 molar equivalent of formamide under reaction conditions in which the N-vinyl formamide units are virtually unhydrolyzed in the polymerizate.
