Use of such a mixture for stabilizing inanimate organic materials against the effects of light, oxygen, and/or heat. Inanimate organic materials comprising at least one such mixture, and objects produced from such inanimate organic materials. Method for stabilizing inanimate organic materials against the effects of light, oxygen, and/or heat, wherein at least one such mixture is applied to the inanimate organic materials in an effective amount.

The invention relates to a method for producing modified zinc oxide nanoparticles, characterized in that the zinc oxide nanoparticles, which are dissolved in a solvent, are reacted in the presence of ammonia or amines with a tetraalkyl-orthosilicate, and optionally with an organosilane, under the proviso that the reaction takes place at a content of less than 5% by weight water, relative to the total quantity of solvent and water. Said production method can be used to obtain modified zinc oxide nanoparticles, which comprise Si-O-alkyl groups and can be solved in organic solvents. In addition, liquid or solid formulations containing modified ZnO nanoparticles can be obtained. Inanimate organic materials, such as plastics or paints, containing modified ZnO nanoparticles may also be obtained. The invention further relates to a method for stabilizing inanimate organic materials against the effects of light, radicals or heat, wherein modified ZnO nanoparticles, which optionally comprise UV absorbers and/or stabilizers as further additives, are added to the materials.

The invention relates to a method for producing modified ZnO particles in which a zinc salt and a base are mixed in a polar solvent and the polar solvent is optionally removed after precipitation of a precipitation product, resulting in a residue, wherein the residue is absorbed in a non-polar solvent, surface active substances are added, other active substances are optionally added and then the modified ZnO particles are separated from other byproducts. The invention also relates to materials such as plastics, varnishes or paints containing modified ZnO particles. The invention also relates to a method for incorporating modified ZnO particles into materials, wherein the modified ZnO particles are incorporated into the materials in the form of dispersions or suspensions, and to the use of modified ZnO particles for protecting materials against the effects of light, heat, oxygen or radicals, as catalysts, for semiconducting layers or for cosmetic uses.

The invention relates to the use of sterically hindered amines containing one or more groups of general formula (I), for stabilising inanimate organic materials, in particular of plastics or paints, where R 1 , R 2 independently = H, C 1 -C 20 alkyl, C 3 -C 15 cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, heterocyclyl, R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 independently = C 1 -C 20 alkyl, or R 4 and R 6 or R 5 and R 7 together = tetramethylene or pentamethylene and R 3 = aryl, or heteroaryl. The invention further relates to a method for stabilising inanimate organic materials, in articular of plastics or paints. Also disclosed are selected sterically hindered amines containing one or more groups of general formula (I) and materials containing the selected sterically hindered amines.

The invention relates to particles which can be obtained by reacting compounds that can form inorganic nanoparticles with organic molecules containing functional groups and to the use of said particles for finishing deactivated organic polymers, in particular for stabilising said polymers against the action of UV radiation. The invention also relates to liquid formulations containing particles of this type, to methods for producing the particles and their liquid formulations, to powders that can be obtained from the aforementioned liquid formulations and also to liquid formulations that can be obtained by the deflocculation of the powder. The invention further relates to the use of nanoparticles, on the surface of which organic, light-absorbing compounds are bonded, for stabilising polymers against the action of light, radicals or heat.
