摘要:
A selectively openable seal line (34), especially for a container, comprises a seal (36) between first and second sheets (38, 40) each of which has an inner surface (44, 48) of a thermoplastic material, the seal line being formed between the inner surfaces. The seal is formed by a focused energy source, such as radio-frequency energy source, which melts the inner surface at the seal. The seal, as viewed in cross-section, has a bead area (54) of increased thickness at a break end (56) of the seal coextensive with the inner surfaces along less than all of the surface of the bead area, and a break line (58) inwardly of the break end (56), at the second sheet (40), substantially adjacent the bead area (54), and an arcuate depression (60) having a concave downward surface (62) extending from adjacent the break point to a minimum seal thickness point (64).

A supplemental calcium addition unit for providing calcium to a container of phosphate-containing intravenous amino-acid solution. The unit comprises an ampule, plus means on the ampule for facilitating substantially aseptic fluid flow connection with the interior of the container, for example a needle pierceable latex membrane. The ampule comtains a solution of an intravenously metabolizable calcium compound typically at a pH of 2 to 5.5.
摘要:
An in-line set filter for parenteral solution sets and the like which comprises a tubular housing (16) having first and second ends (20, 18). A bundle of filter tubes (22) is positioned within the housing, the filter tubes preferably being folded so that all ends of the filter tubes (22) occupy a single zone in communication with the first housing end. The zone is filled with potting compound (28) with the filter tube ends communicating through the potting compound (28) and open to the exterior. A flow access port (32) is laterally positioned in a side wall between the second end (18) and the potting compound (28) but closer to the potting compound (28). The second end (18) defines an open aperture occluded by a porous hydrophobic filter (40) to permit venting while preventing loss of aqueous liquid.
