A method and system for dehumidifying flue gas from a flue gas generating process supplies the flue gas (12) to a wet flue gas processor (20) having a lower end from which liquid in the wet flue gas processor (20) is supplied to an upper end of the wet flue gas processor (20) for spraying liquid onto flue gas (12) in the wet flue gas processor (20). Water is supplied from a cooling tower (14) to a heat exchanger (24) in the liquid in the lower end of the wet flue gas processor (20) for cooling the liquid in the lower end of the wet flue gas processor (20) to condense water from the flue gas (12) into the liquid in the wet flue gas processor (20). Returning water from the heat exchanger (24) to the cooling tower (14) cools the water and the liquid with the condensed water is supplied from the wet flue gas processor (20) to the cooling tower (14) as make-up water for the cooling tower (14) to reduce or eliminate the need to fresh make-up water.

A tri-sector regenerative oxidant preheater apparatus, method and arrangement for utilization with oxy-fired pulverized coal combustion power plants. The preheater (32) includes a stationary housing and a rotor rotatably mounted in the housing. Sector plates are located at the axial ends of the rotor and divide the preheater into a flue gas sector (78), two primary oxidant sectors (84,86), and a secondary oxidant sector (82) interposed between the two primary oxidant sectors. A primary oxidant fan (36) is located downstream of the preheater to create a negative environment in the primary oxidant sectors (84,86). During operation of the preheater, the environments of the two primary oxidant sectors and the flue gas sector (78) are at about the same negative pressure, and thus there is very limited leakage between the oxidant side and the flue gas side of the preheater. The environment of the secondary oxidant sector (82) is at a positive pressure and leakage to the negative environment of the primary oxidant sectors will be that of secondary oxidant to primary oxidant with no loss secondary oxidant to the gas side of the preheater.
