Abstract:
An apparatus, and an associated method, facilitates synchronization of a database, such as a message database of a portable device. Synchronization is initiated at the device by the generating and transmitting of a plurality of synchronization requests, with each synchronization request requesting synchronization data of an increased synchronization depth. Synchronization operations are carried out using synchronization data returned responsive to the synchronization requests.
Abstract:
A client device configured to access a remote device via a communication network. The client device is configured to: a) detect a termination of a network connection to the remote device and b) in response to detecting the termination of the network connection, record an idle time duration associated with the network. The client device repeats a) and b) until a plurality of idle time durations have been recorded. The client device then determines from the plurality of idle time durations a timeout value associated with the network and sets a transmission period of a keep-alive signal transmitted from the client device to the remote device based on the determined timeout value. The client device transmits the determined timeout value and information identifying the network to a timeout value server that may be accessed by other client devices.

Abstract:
An apparatus, and an associated method, facilitates synchronization of a database formed of data records. When a synchronization response to a synchronization request indicates that the data of the request is unsynchronizable, data associated with the synchronization request is marked. A retry procedure is subsequently utilized to attempt synchronization of the marked data records and to determine the individual data records that cannot be synchronized.
Abstract:
A method system and apparatus for transferring data via more than one communications interface are provided. A data file is transferred, at a processor of a device, and via at least one communications network, on a first communications interface (124-1) of the device and a second communications interface (124-2) of the device, the second communications interface (124-2) different from the first communications interface (124-1).
Abstract:
The application relates to the field of communications and more particularly to an apparatus and method of generating a new event from a document. In accordance with one aspect of the present application, recognized date/time references contained in a document allow a new event to be created. Such date/time references are automatically recognized and highlighted in the document. Selecting the highlighted information generates a menu selection, offering a user the ability to create a new event into which the date/time information will be inserted, along with other information extracted from the document. Specific date/time information in a document is simply correlated to a known date/time format in a lookup table, while relative terms like "tomorrow", "today" or days of the week (ie. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.) are recognized by a date/time detector module and translated into a specific date/time. Using an embodiment of the present application, a new event can be readily generated.
