It is intended to provide a novel biologically non-degradable peptide which is easily absorbed but hardly degraded in vivo when administered via, for example, the oral route and expected as effectively exerting functions such as a hypotensive effect in vivo; an ACE inhibitor using the peptide; and a drug or a functional food expected as effectively exerting a hypotensive effect in vivo. The biologically non-degradable peptide as described above is a dipeptide or a tripeptide having Pro at its carboxy end selected from the group consisting of Ile Pro, Glu Pro, Arg Pro, Gln Pro, Met Pro and Ser Pro Pro.

A casein hydrolyzate, especially one whose in vivo manifestation of functions, such as antihypertensive activity, is promising, which casein hydrolyzate comprises a peptide, such as a nonbiodegradable peptide having minimized its in vivo zymolytic activity, and free amino acids; a process for producing the same; and use thereof. In particular, the casein hydrolyzate is obtained by hydrolyzing animal milk casein into an average chain length of 2.1 or less in terms of amino acid residue quantity, and contains free amino acids and a peptide, such as a nonbiodegradable peptide, e.g., XaaPro or XaaProPro. The casein hydrolyzate exhibits an ACE inhibitory activity or antihypertensive activity.
摘要:
Medicines for relieving intestinal disorders which contain viable cells of a strain belonging to Lactobacillus helveticus. This strain is preferably characterized by a resistance to a specific bile acid, adhesiveness to intestinal epithelial cells, etc. A method of controlling intestinal functions which involves the step of administering such a medicine to a subject with a need for the control of intestinal functions. When administered to humans or the like, these medicines exert effects of elevating stool frequency, etc., thereby efficaciously improving the intestinal environment.
