Described herein are methods of delivering a nanoparticle to the brain of a subject by administering to the subject a nanoparticle having a nanoparticle core and a targeting agent. A variety of targeting agents may serve to promote delivery of the described nanoparticle. For example, the targeting agent may include a ligand specific for a receptor expressed by brain endothelial cells and a linker that connects the ligand to the external surface of the nanoparticle core. Additionally, the linker can promote disassociation of the ligand from the nanoparticle when inside a cell.

Described herein is a method of providing a hydrocarbon polymer from a hydrocarbon mixture, the hydrocarbon mixture comprising a cyclic olefin. The method comprises: contacting the hydrocarbon mixture with a 10-ring pore molecular sieve at a temperature of -20°C to 60 °C for a time and under conditions to provide a sieved hydrocarbon mixture comprising the cyclic olefin; contacting the sieved hydrocarbon mixture with a polymerization catalyst for a time and under conditions to polymerize the cyclic olefin, thereby forming the hydrocarbon polymer. The 10-ring pore molecular sieve has a sieving channel with a 10-ring sieving aperture with a minimum crystallographic free diameter greater than 3Å and a ratio of the maximum crystallographic free diameter to the minimum crystallographic free diameter between 1 and 2; a T1/T2 ratio ≥ 20:1, wherein T1 is an element independently selected from Si, Ge and a combination thereof, and T2 is an element independently selected from Al, B, Ga and a combination thereof; and a counterion selected from NH 4 + , Li + , Na + , K + , Ca 2+ and a combination thereof. The isomerization is performed in aqueous medium with a high-silica zeolite containing a metal known to have Lewis acid activity incorporated into the framework of the zeolite, the zeolite being Beta, CIT-1, ZSM-12, SSZ-33, SSZ-26, CIT-5 or high silica FAU type zeolite.
