La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'un substrat en carbone, comprenant les étapes suivantes et successives : - imprégnation du substrat en carbone avec une solution aqueuse contenant un copolymère fluoré amorphe de tétrafluoroéthène et de perfluorométhoxy dioxole ; - séchage du substrat en carbone à une pression inférieure à la pression atmosphérique ; - obtention d'un substrat en carbone imprégné d'un copolymère fluoré. Ce substrat en carbone peut être utilisé en tant que couche de diffusion gazeuse dans une pile à combustible.
