摘要:
The present invention provides a process for precipitating a polyolefin from solution. The present invention also provides a polyolefin paste having drag reducing characteristics when dissolved in a flowing hydrocarbon stream and a method for making the drag reducing paste. Finally, the present invention provides a slurried drag reducer prepared from the paste for use in flowing hydrocarbon streams.
摘要:
A drag-reducing polymer capable of dissolving even in cold fluids is described, along with a method for manufacturing said drag-reducing polymer. The drag-reducing polymer has at least one alpha-olefin monomer with between a four and nine carbon chain length and a co-monomer and has less than 25% monomers (molar content) with carbon chain lengths of 12 or longer. A drag-reducing polymer suspension is also described.
摘要:
A hydrocarbon-soluble drag-reducing suspension is described, along with a process for manufacturing the drag-reducing suspension. The drag-reducing suspension is easily transportable, non-hazardous, easily handled, and provides a significant increase in drag-reducing capability over existing products. The drag-reducing suspension is manufactured by grinding an ultra-high molecular weight polymer in the presence of a grinding aid and mixing it with a with a suspending fluid.

This invention relates to improving the flow of flowing streams of hydrocarbons, such as petroleum or finished products, in a conduit such as a pipeline. The present invention also relates to a stable, nonagglomerating nonaqueous suspension suitable for improving flow of hydrocarbons in conduits, particularly finished product hydrocarbons in conduits.
摘要:
Flow of a stream comprised of hydrocarbons is improved by introducing into the stream a stable, non-agglomerating suspension comprising: (a) water, (b) highly dispersed in the water, and substantially insoluble therein, and extremely finely-divided, non-crystalline, ultra-high molecular weight, hydrocarbon-soluble, undegraded polyalkene having 2 to about 30 carbon atoms per alkene precursor and an inherent viscosity of at least 20 dL/g, and (c) a small but effective amount of a surfactant having an HLB of at least about 9. The finely divided polyalkene is prepared by polymerization and then cryogrinding below the glass transition temperature of the polyalkene.
