The present invention provides a filtering medium for an air filter which has a greatly increased dust retention amount while maintaining high collecting efficiency, a filter pack, an air filter unit, and a method for producing the filtering medium for an air filter. The filtering medium for an air filter of the present invention is provided with a first porous membrane and a second porous membrane mainly composed of a fluororesin. The second porous membrane is disposed on the downstream side of airflow compared to the first porous membrane. The first porous membrane has a dust retention amount of the polyalphaolefin particles when the air containing polyalphaolefin particles with a count median diameter of 0.25 µm is continuously passed through at a flow rate of 5.3 cm/sec, which is larger than that of the second porous membrane. The filtering medium for an air filter has a pressure loss of less than 200 Pa, a collecting efficiency for NaCl particles with a particle diameter of 0.3 µm is 99.97% or more, and the dust retention amount for the polyalphaolefin particles with a count median diameter of 0.25 µm is 25 g/m 2 or more.
