The rechargeable device (22) includes a storage capacitor (30). The electrical charger includes a supply capacitor (42) electrically connected to an electrical contact (46), the supply capacitor being charged when the electrical charger is connected to a power source (40). While in use, any charge in the supply capacitor (42) is rapidly distributed between the supply capacitor (42) and the storage capacitor (30) when the rechargeable device is mounted in the receiver (16) of the electrical charger.
