摘要： The present teaching aims to provide: a cam angle sensor fault diagnosis apparatus for a straddled vehicle, capable of detecting a fault of a cam angle sensor installed in a straddled vehicle and guessing a fault place; an engine system; and a straddled vehicle. A cam angle sensor fault diagnosis apparatus for a straddled vehicle includes: a cam signal receiving unit connected to a signal output line through which a cam angle sensor outputs a cam signal in accordance with the rotation angle, the cam signal receiving unit being configured to receive a cam signal via the signal output line; a state determination unit that determines one or two fault states of the cam angle sensor from a disconnection state, a power supply fault state, and a ground fault state, distinguishably from the other fault states, in accordance with a signal level of a cam signal received by the cam signal receiving unit; and a signal output unit that outputs a fault signal representing the one or two fault states determined by the state determination unit, in such a manner that the fault signal representing the one or two fault states is different from a fault signal representing the other fault states.

摘要： A straddled vehicle having a gear position sensor failure detector which is able to improve the capability of detecting a failure of a gear position sensor is provided. An ECU (90) which is a gear position sensor failure detector includes a gear position estimation unit (93) and a sensor failure detection unit (94). The gear position estimation unit (93) estimates the gear position of a gearbox based on a transmission ratio which is estimated based on a signal from an engine rotation speed sensor (71) and a signal from a vehicle speed sensor (16). The engine rotation speed sensor (71) and the vehicle speed sensor (16) are contactless sensors. A gear position sensor failure determination unit (95) of the sensor failure detection unit (94) determines whether there is a failure in a gear position sensor (77) by comparing the gear position estimated by the gear position estimation unit (93) with the gear position detected by the gear position sensor (77). The gear position sensor (77) is provided in a crankcase which houses a crankshaft and the gearbox.

A failure detector (93, 94) detects a failure of a temperature sensor (72, 75) based on at least one signal of the temperature sensor (72, 75), at least one generated heat amount-related parameter, and at least one dissipated heat amount-related parameter. The generated heat amount-related parameter relates to an amount of heat generated in an engine unit and influencing the temperature of a detection target of the temperature sensor (72, 75) and further relates to a state of the straddled vehicle. The dissipated heat amount-related parameter relates to an amount of heat taken away from the straddled vehicle as the straddled vehicle runs and influencing the temperature of the detection target of the temperature sensor (72, 75) and further relates to an environment of the straddled vehicle.
