The application relates to a cryosurgical instrument for separating a tissue sample from a biological tissue that is to be treated. The cryosurgical instrument (10) comprises a probe (40), for bringing a probe head (42) to the biological tissue to be treated, and a gas delivery device for delivering coolant gas from a gas source of a cryosurgical appliance to the probe head, wherein the latter is designed in such a way that, by means of the delivered gas, a limited area of tissue can be cooled, in order to recover a tissue sample, and can be separated from the surrounding tissue in a state frozen onto the probe head. The instrument is designed to allow a tissue sample to be collected reliably and in a manner that is gentle on the tissue and that provides a high degree of safety for the patient. For this purpose, the instrument comprises a support tube (60) in which the probe is guided and which is movable relative to the probe in such a way that the surrounding tissue can be supported by means of the support tube during the separation of the tissue sample. In an endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), electrodes inserted via an endoscope are used to cut and/or coagulate the tissue. For the operation to succeed, it is essential to determine the absolute position of the electrodes within the tissue. However, poor viewing conditions and technical limitations make the correct determination of the position extremely difficult. The present invention therefore proposes to make available an electrosurgical instrument which comprises a protective tube, to be inserted into a working channel of an endoscope, and an electrode. A control element is used to move this electrode in a distal direction and a proximal direction inside the protective tube, wherein the electrode, by being moved in the distal direction, can be brought into a deployed position in which the electrode at least partially protrudes from a distal end of the protective tube. The distal end of the protective tube has a closure element with an opening for the passage of the electrode, wherein the opening of the closure element, for guiding and/or cleaning the electrode, has a maximum internal diameter smaller than the internal diameter of the protective tube.

The invention relates to cryosurgical instrument for obtaining a tissue sample using a probe, wherein the probe comprises a probe head for freezing tissues, a probe shaft for advancing the probe head to the tissue, a feeding device for feeding a fluid into an expansion chamber and a conducting device. The conducting device is connected to the expansion chamber for delivering the expanded fluid out of the expansion chamber. The expansion of the fluid in the expansion chamber chills the probe head such that the tissue freezes to the probe head. Such surgical instruments can also be used according to the invention in thin hollow organs, such as gall bladder or pancreatic ducts, in order to obtain tissue samples. In said area of application, however, certain requirements are placed on the dimensions of the probe that could not be met by conventional probes. The present invention solves said problem in that the delivery device comprises at least one opening at the distal region of the probe, said opening conducting the fluid into an external region outside of the probe. According to the invention, a part of the expanding gas is thereby discharged directly into the hollow organ.
