A heat-developable color photographic material is disclosed. The material is comprised of a support having thereon a light-sensitive silver halide, a hydrophilic binder and a dye releasing redox compound. The dye releasing redox compound is represented by a general formula (la) or (lb): the substituents are defined within the specification. The material can easily provide a clear and stable color image by imagewise exposure to light and heat-development. A method for forming a color image using the material is also disclosed.
