At the same time as the beam source (2) is moved, the beam detector (1) is moved by the control unit (3) into a plurality of positions, in which the beam emitted by the beam source (2) and penetrating the object (7) to be replicated is intercepted to capture a projection image. The beam source (2) and/or the beam detector (1) are moved on a calculated path (13, 18, 20, 27) around the object (7) to be replicated, at a constant distance between the beam source (2) and the beam detector (1) or the object (7) to be replicated, which path is described by a polynomial nth degree and determined by the control unit (3) through an optimisation of a specified path along the central beam (19, 20), wherein the respective polynomial is selected in such a manner that a safety clearance with respect to the object (7) to be replicated is maintained and, at the same time, a distance between the beam detector (2) and the object (7) to be replicated is minimised.
