The lever (40) serves to retain a reserve roll (R) in a reserve roll position remote from the roll dispensing position with the lever (40) being released from such retaining condition when the web material is exhausted and the hollow core (C) is deformed downwardly, assisted by the axial forces (FR) applied to the hollow core ends, to enable removal of this core (C) from the roll dispensing position whereupon such reserve roll (R) moves to the dispensing position.

A feed wheel (36) rotatable with the feed roller has a control tab (38) to successively engage with the lift and stop flanges so that as the feed roller rotates by web material being pulled from the dispenser, the control tab first lifts the stop lever by means of the lift flange and then abuttingly frictionally engages with the stop flange to retain the stop lever in its lifted position and stop feed roller rotation until the frictional engagement is relieved by pulling tension on the web being terminated whereupon the lever drops until the tab can pass over the upper end of the stop flange to free the feed roller for further rotation.

A keeper bracket (72) loosely receives this web end portion incident dispenser loading with the action of cabinet cover (14) closing causing the bracket (72) to firmly grip such portion until the transfer mechanism coacts with the dispensing mechanism (22) to thereafter feed web material supplied from the reserve roll (R).
