摘要:
A measuring probe for the invasive measurement of blood parameters such as pH, pO₂ or pCO₂ comprises one or more optical fibers (9) in a tubing (7). These optical fibers (9) end up in sensors (8,14,15) which are surrounded by a sheath (2). An additional wire (5) is guided both in the tubing (7) and the sheath (2). At the proximal end of the probe, the wire (5) is connected to locking means (3) closing the sheath (2) at its outer end, whereas, at the distal end thereof, the wire (5) is fastened to the tubing (7) or to a connector 19). Therefore, this wire (5) ensures perfect strain relieving of the probe.

Probes, preferably optical probes for the invasive measurement of blood parameters consist of a plurality of sensors (or at least one sensor and a stabilizing core, or at least one single sensor) (11,17), each of these sensors (11,17) having a diffusion zone with a selective membrane (15) and all together surrounded by a stabilizing sheath (18); this sheath (18) is to be fastened on the sensor(s) (11,17) by a glue (22). A method is described for manufacturing such probes. This method includes the steps of covering the selective membrane (15) by a hardenable and soluble cover material (21), in particular a silicate, then fastening said sheath (18) on the sensors (11,17) by glue (22) - which cannot reach the selective membranes (15) as they are just covered by the cover material (21) - and then dissolving said cover material (21). This method guarantees that the selective membranes (15) are free of glue (22) after the manufacturing process.

An optical probe for the invasive measurement of the partial carbon dioxide pressure comprises an optical fiber (18)' and a pC0 2 sensor (15'). The pC0 2 sensor (15') comprises a diffusion zone with a dye-containing gel (23') which is optically sensitive to H ions and a semi-permeable membrane (30') which is permeable to C0 2 molecules, but basically not to hydrogen ions. Components of the pC0 2 sensors such as the part of the optical fiber (18') extending into the sensor or a reflector (24') are covered with a substance - preferably, with a coating (35, 36) - that is basically non-permeable to hydrogen ions. This prevents the hydrogen ions from diffusing into the sensor components, which otherwise would cause an imbalance of hydrogen ions and therefore a drift in the pC0 2 reading.

An invasive blood parameter probe (1) includes a flexible pressure tube (4) which surrounds the sterile probe portion (7). When the pressure tube (4) is stretched, the proximal probe tip slips into the pressure tube (4). Pressure tube (4) is held in its elongated position by means of an - e.g. U-shaped - spanning member (9) against which a Y-connector (3) and a threaded sleeve (5) abut. A container (6) may now be replaced, under sterile conditions, by a catheter.

An optical probe for the invasive measurement of blood parameters comprises various sensors which end up in a sheath (15e). Each sensor is connected with a monitor via an optical fiber; the optical fibers are surrounded by a tube (18e). In the region (47) where the sheath (15e) adjoins the tube (18e), the sheath (15e) is deformed by crimping such that a better mechanical contact (form-locking) between the sheath (15e), the sensors and the tube (18e) can be obtained, in order to avoid systematic errors caused by displacement of the optical fibers inside the sheath (15e).

Optical probes for the invasive measurement of blood parameters consist of at least one sensor (6, 7, 27), each of these sensors (6, 7,27) having a diffusion zone with a selective membrane (20, 24, 29). The sensor or the sensors (6, 7, 27) are surrounded by a stabilizing sheath (5). This sheath (5) is to be fastened on sensor(s) (6, 7, 27) by glue (17). A silicone glue provides the feature that gas molecules can diffuse through it; therefore, blood gas sensors such as pO₂ sensors or pCO₂ sensors may be completely embedded in said glue. If a pH sensor (6) is used, it must be placed in the top position of the horizontally lying sheath (5) during manufacturing. The silicone glue then does not cover the diffusion zone of the pH sensor (6) completely. Further, silicone glue provides additional elasticity which improves sensor characteristics.
