    摘要: In a vehicle body side structure, a required resistance to a side impact is achieved without using sheet metal of increased thickness for a center pillar member 23 or a side sill member 21 or increasing the number of points for spot welding. The center pillar member 23 and side sill member 21 are spot welded to each other at a horizontal array of spot welded points, and a pair of stamp formed beads 33 are provided immediately above the array of spot welded points in parallel thereto so that a side impact to this area may be favorably absorbed by a vertical elongation of the beads.

    摘要: Provided is a center pillar constituting workpiece, which is equipped with a criterion excellent in the visibility of a spot-welding hitting position thereby to facilitate the welding quality management. A center pillar (3) is constituted of a center pillar outer (5) and a center pillar inner (6), which are jointed to each other by spot-welding a flange (8) formed at the center pillar inner, to the corresponding portion of the center pillar outer. The flange has its edge portion formed into a waving shape having a crest (8a) as a criterion of the hitting position for the spot-welding. The surface corrugations cannot be enlarged so much because of the thickness, but can be formed along the flange face, so that their crests (or valleys) can be enlarged. As a result, the criterion can be made so highly visible as to perform the spot welding at the precise positions according to the designs and to improve the quality of the spot welding.

    摘要: Work pieces for a center pillar are provided with marks for determining locations for spot welding which are easy to recognize, and this simplifies the task of managing the quality of welding work. The center pillar 3 is formed by a center pillar outer 5 and a center pillar inner 6 in such a manner that a flange 8 formed in the center pillar inner is spot welded to a corresponding part of the center pillar outer. The edge of the flange is given with a wavy shape to indicate the locations for spot welding by the peaks of the wavy shape. As opposed to dents or recesses which cannot be deep enough to be readily recognizable owing to the limit in the thickness of the work piece, the wavy shape may be of such dimensions as to permit required recognizability. This ensures spot welding to be performed on designed locations, and improves the quality of the spot welding work.
