    摘要： In a microwave cooking heater element comprising a heat stable plastic film coated with a very thin layer of micro­wave interactive material to form a microwave interactive film, the improvement is provided which comprises the pre­sence in said very thin layer of an inactivated area wherein the capability of said inactivated area to generate heat in response to microwave energy has been reduced by treat­ment with an inactivating chemical followed by drying. Fur­thermore, a microwave interactive laminate is provided which has been treated with an inactivating chemical, comprising said microwave interactive film and a substrate layer bonded to said microwave interactive film, wherein said very thin layer of microwave interactive material is between said heat stable plastic film and said substrate layer as well as a method for making such microwave interactive laminate.

    摘要： A method for forming a non-woven fabric web by wet-laying fibers on paper-making equipment, the web comprising staple length natural or synthetic fibers and wood cellulose paper-making fibers wherein a water furnish of the fibers is made up with a nonionic associative thickener in the absence of a conventional surfactant. A preferred associative thickener for use with hydrophobic fibers is a nonionic urethane block copolymer having a polyethylene glycol backbone, the associative thickener acting as both surfactant and thickener. With predominately cellulosic fibers, i.e. conventional wood cellulose fibers, or a mixture of conventional and contorted wood fibers, and synthetic cellulosic fibers, such as rayon, a nonionic hydroxyethyl cellulose having a long alkyl side chain is preferred. Excellent consistency of the water fiber dispersion is obtained at relatively low viscosity with rapid drainage of water from the wire and uniform formation of the non-woven fabric.

    摘要： A disposable, cloth-like towel of superior wet strength and absorbency comprises a scrim at least one face of which is coated with a superabsorbent material and a nonwoven cellulosic web which is bonded to the coated scrim. The superabsorbent coating preferably is formed by wetting the scrim with water or an aqueous adhesive, applying a solid hydrophilic polymer to the scrim, then applying a nonwoven absorbent cellulosic web to the coated scrim and drying the resulting composite web. Bonding of the scrim to the cellulosic web can be achieved by applying an adhesive to the side of the cellulosic web which is brought into contact with the coated scrim. Alternatively, both the hydrophilic coating and bonding can be effected by sandwiching the scrim, coated with an unreacted mixture of hydrophilic polymer and crosslinking compound, between two cellulosic layers and then subjecting the multi-ply sheet to crosslinking reaction conditions to form the superabsorbent on the scrim as well as to cause adhesion of the cellulosic webs thereto.
