In order to clean the paws of domestic animals, an agent is proposed, by which solid particles can be removed from the paws of domestic animals. Said agent consists of a highly viscous kneadable compound having a viscosity of 50000 - 150000 mPa.s, preferably 80 - 120 mPa.s. Said compound is formed by natural polygalactomanans and 75 to 95 % by weight of bound water and contains a disinfectant solvent from the group of saturated, monovalent alcohols. Preferably, the compound additionally contains re-lubricating, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, aseptic and regenerating agents. The compound is made such that impurities can be kneaded in the compound by carrying out some kneading movements. The compound (3) is placed into a container (1) for use, which has a flat recess for receiving the cleaning agent for paws of domestic animals. The compound is protected from drying out by means of a cover (4), preferably a cover made of a soft plastic and covering the recess in a form-fitting manner.

The manual device has a pen-like or flat rectangular shape, and the cleaning element is a hydrophilic microfibre cloth (4), comprising a flat cleaning surface, which is connected to the manual device and arranged longitudinally thereupon.
