摘要: A method of forming a video signal by a decoder device is described wherein the method comprises receiving a bitstream and decoder information, the decoder information signaling the decoder device the presence of one or more resolution components in the bitstream for forming a video signal, a resolution component representing a spatially subsampled version, preferably a polyphase subsampled version, of a first video signal having a first resolution, the one or more resolution components being part of a resolution component group, the group comprising a plurality of resolution components on the basis of which the first video signal is reconstructable; and, the decoder device parsing the bitstream and decoding the one or more resolution components into video frames on the basis of the decoder information.

摘要: A Method is described for synchronizing the output of terminals. The method according to the invention may be used in a system comprising a station, which transmits a packetized stream to at least a first and second terminal. Each terminal comprises a variable delay unit and each terminal is connected through a low-delay communication channel to at least one synchronization unit for calculating delay information. Further, each terminal is capable of determining media reference information of a received media unit from the stream. The method comprising the steps of providing one or more low delay communication channels between the terminals and a synchronization unit; the synchronization unit calculating delay information on the basis of synchronization information received from the terminals via the one or more low delay communication channels; and transmitting the delay information to at least one of the terminals allowing the at least one terminal to delay its output such that the output of the terminals are substantially synchronized.

摘要: A method is described for synchronizing the transmission of a stream to a group of end-terminals. The method is used in a system comprising a station transmitting a packetized stream over a network to at least a first and second network node. Each network node comprises a variable delay unit and each network node is connected to one or more end-terminals. In the method the synchronization unit receives arrival time information of a packet in the broadcast stream at the first and second network node. Delay information is calculated for the first and second network node on the basis of the arrival time information of the packet. Further, the delay information is transmitted to the first and second network node so that the variable delay unit in the first and second network node is able to transmit the broadcast stream to the first and second end-terminal in a substantially synchronized way.

摘要: A method and controller are provided for performing a non-contiguous streaming of a media stream. Such non-contiguous streaming comprises transmitting a selected portion of the media stream to the receiver while omitting transmitting at least an immediately adjacent portion of the media stream so as to enable uninterrupted play-out of the selected portion by the receiver after a pre-determined play-out delay. Such non-contiguous streaming may be advantageously used when the content bitrate exceeds the available network bandwidth. Namely, instead of streaming all of the media stream, only one or more selected and non-adjacent portions thereof are streamed, while omitting transmitting one or more intermediate portions. Effectively, the available network bandwidth may be allocated for transmitting only selected portions of the media stream to enable said portions each to be played-out uninterruptedly by the receiver after a pre-determined play-out delay and at the original content bitrate. Buffer underruns at the receiver may thereby be prevented.
