The present invention refers to a DC/AC power inverter control unit of a resonant-type power converter circuit (400), in particular a DC/DC converter, for sup- plying an output power for use in, for example, a high-voltage generator circuitry of an X-rayradiographic imaging system, 3D rotational angiography device or X-raycom- puted tomography device of the fan-or cone-beam type. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a resonant-type power converter circuit which comprises an in- terphase transformer (406) connected in series to at least one series resonant tank circuit (403a and 403a' or 403b and 403b') at the output of two DC/AC power inverter stages (402a+b) supplying a multi-primary winding high-voltage transformer (404), wherein said interphase transformer (406) serves for removing the difference (DI) in the resonant output currents ( I 1 and I 2 ) of the DC/AC power inverter stages (402a+b). Furthermore, the present invention is dedicated to a control method which assures that the interphase transformer (406) is not saturated. This control method ensures zero current operation and provides for that input power losses can be minimized.

The conversion circuit further comprises an inverter (Inv) for cyclically switching one of 3 3-phase output terminals to the first converter output terminal, one to the second converter output terminal and one intermittently to the first and second converter output terminal. With this conversion circuit and method, high capacity energy storage components (such as a capacitor having a large capacitance) can be avoided in the conversion circuit.

Ignition of a gas discharge lamp 10, which has a gas containing main space and two inner electrodes, of a lighting unit 4 of a lighting system is achieved by the use of a high frequency resonance circuit. The resonance circuit is connected to the inner electrodes and to a supply device 2, which supplies an alternating supply voltage. An outer electrode 22 is arranged near one the inner electrodes and to a node of the resonance circuit. Upon supplying the supply voltage a high voltage alternating burst will be generated at the outer electrode. This will result into a discharge of the gas in the main space. In turn, this will induce a discharge of the remaining gas. Then the frequency of the supply voltage will increase and a small reactive current only will remain to flow through the resonance circuit.

The invention relates to an AC/DC converter circuit (100) and a method for converting N≧2 AC supply voltages (U1, U2, U3) into DC voltage. This is achieved by feeding the AC supply voltages to first terminals (a1, a2, a3) of full bridge converters (11, 12, 13), wherein the second terminals (b1, b2, b3) of these rectifiers are coupled to each other. The outputs (d11, d1′, d2, d2′, d3, d3′) of the rectifiers are fed to the DC terminals of intermediate converters (21, 22, 23). The AC terminals (e1, e1′, e2, e2′, e3, e3′) of the intermediate converters are connected to the primary sides of transformers (31, 32, 33), wherein the secondary sides of these transformers are provided to further rectifiers (41, 42, 43). The circuit design allows using MosFETs of limited voltage capability for processing 380 V three-phase AC current, thus achieving a high efficiency.
