The backlight unit (120) includes optical sheets (125) that are configured to be mounted to the housing (135) using a plurality of holes (251) provided on sides of the optical sheets (125) and corresponding fixing parts (310) protruding from the housing (135). The holes (251) are asymmetrically positioned on the upper side of the optical sheets (125) relative to their position on the lower side of the optical sheets (125). Furthermore, the size of the hole (251) positioned at a central portion of the upper side of the optical sheets (125) is smaller than the size of that of a hole (251) positioned at the edge of the upper side of the optical sheets (125). The holes (251) and fixing parts (310) are thereby configured to reduce damage or misalignment to the optical sheets (125) that may be caused by heat generated inside the liquid crystal display (100).
