摘要: The present invention provides a method involving a media server (215), a wireless access network (223), at least one media client (210), and a proxy server (225). The method includes accessing, at the proxy server (225), at least one message including information indicating impending establishment of a media session between the media server (215) and said at least one media client (210). The method also includes providing, from the proxy server (225), information indicating the impending establishment of the media session and a request to receive feedback associated with the media session. The method further includes receiving, at the proxy server (225), feedback associated with the media session in response to providing the request to receive feedback associated with the media session.

摘要: Methods for proxy-driven content rate selection for streaming media servers are provided. In one method, one or more maximum transmission rate parameters from a network controller are stored at a proxy server in response to a receiver report message from the client. A target rate for the media session is generated based on the stored maximum transmission rate parameters, and the target rate is transmitted to a media server in a proxy-to-server feedback message. The media server selects the content rate from among a plurality of supported content rates in response to the proxy-to-server feedback message from the proxy server, and streams streaming multimedia frames to the client at the selected content rate.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for allocating portions of a frame to a plurality of mobile units including a plurality of frequency subcarrier sets and a plurality of symbols. The method includes determining at least one zone comprising at least one of the plurality of subcarrier sets and at least one of the plurality of symbols and determining a plurality of subzones. Each subzone includes at least one of the plurality of subcarrier sets and at least one of the plurality of symbols in the at least one zone. The method also includes associating each of the plurality of mobile units with at least one of the subzones and allocating a portion of the subcarrier sets and symbols in each subzone to the mobile units associated with each subzone.

摘要: In an ad hoc wireless network, for purposes of neighbor discovery, a transmitting node transmits a beacon within a timeslot and at a frequency that varies from timeslot-to-timeslot according to one or more associated and known pseudo-random or cyclical frequency hopping sequences. When, during a timeslot, the frequency hopping sequence would select a beacon frequency that if transmitted would violate spectrum policy that is in place during that timeslot, then, during that timeslot, a beacon is not transmitted during that timeslot. During each timeslot, a neighbor receiving node attempts to detect and decode a transmitted beacon at a frequency specified by the frequency hopping sequence that it expects a transmitting node to be using. When a receiving node successfully detects and decodes a beacon transmitted by a transmitting node, neighbor discovery between the transmitting and receiving nodes is achieved.

摘要: A system and method is provided for communicating in a wireless communication system which supports link adaptation or link adaptation and incremental redundancy. The invention provides link adaptation at multiple code rate by dividing fixed length RLC blocks into coded sub-blocks. CRC code may be appended to the RLC blocks for error detection. The sub-blocks are then grouped into transmission units for transmission. The number of sub-blocks in each group is varied to provide multiple code rates. Headers are used to identify the transmission units being transmitted. In the case of retransmission, the transmission units may be expressly identified through extended headers. One or more of the originally transmitted sub-blocks are dropped and replaced by the extended headers in the retransmission. Accordingly, the present invention provides for a retransmission code rate which may be different from the code rate at which the transmission units were originally transmitted.

摘要: In a method for dynamically setting a content rate of a multimedia session for a client in a network, a proxy server receives a channel condition feedback message from a network controller and determines whether a receiver report message has been received from the client since a most recent previous channel condition feedback message. The channel condition feedback message includes current channel condition information for the network. The proxy server sends one of an extended feedback report message and a short feedback report message to a media server based on the determining step. The short feedback report message includes at least a maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session. The extended feedback report message includes at least information contained in the receiver report message. The extended feedback report message may, in addition, include the maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session.

摘要: The present invention provides a method involving a media server (210), a wireless network (205), and at least one media client (215) associated with at least one air interface with the wireless network (205). The method includes accessing first information indicative of at least one state of the at least one media client (215). The first information is provided by the at least one media client (215). The method also includes accessing second information indicative of resources associated with the at least one air interface. The second information is provided by the wireless network (205). The method further includes providing at least one feedback parameter to the media server (210). The at least one feedback parameter is formed based on the first and second information.
