摘要: Because of its inability to uniformly control water content over the entire surface of a membrane electrode joining element, a polyelectrolyte fuel cell is difficult to keep a constant voltage over an extended time. A conductive polymer layer consisting of conductive particles and a polymer material is formed on the top of a porous material of carbon fibers, and a catalyst layer consisting of platinum-carrying carbon particles is disposed on the conductive polymer layer to form a gas diffusion electrode. The conductive polymer layer has conductive particles different in particle size mixed therein, with the mixed amount of conductive particles small in particle size decreasing from one end toward the other end of the gas diffusion electrode.

摘要: The present invention provides an electrode for a fuel cell, which prevents electrode exfoliation at a manufacturing process by optimizing a water repellent material to be added to a gas diffusion layer, and which has a high discharge performance at a low cost. This electrode comprises a gas diffusion layer and a catalyst layer formed at a surface thereof to contact a polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein the gas diffusion layer contains a fibrillated water repellent material, and is subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of the melting point or below thereof.

摘要: The present invention relates to a polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprising: an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly including an anode, a cathode and a polymer electrolyte membrane interposed therebetween; an anode-side conductive separator plate having a gas flow channel for supplying a fuel gas to the anode; and a cathode-side conductive separator plate having a gas flow channel for supplying an oxidant gas to the cathode. A conductive separator plate made of carbon has poor wettability with water. This has posed the disadvantage that variations in performance are induced by nonuniform gas distribution among cells due to the accumulation of product water or humidifying water in the gas flow channel on the surface of the separator plate. The present invention employs a conductive separator plate comprising a conductive carbon having a hydrophilic functional group, at least in a portion of the gas flow channels, thereby preventing water from accumulating in the gas flow channels.

摘要: It has been conventional that, when abnormality occurs in a device, the conditional operation of the device is further continued while neglecting the abnormality temporarily on condition that remedial action taken later by service staff. There has been no simple method to quickly remove slight failures, etc. included in the abnormality. A fuel cell power generation system comprises a fuel cell (21), fuel gas supply means (22), oxidizing agent gas supply means (34), condition detection means (42) for measuring the temperature of the fuel gas supply means (22), operation control means (47) for detecting abnormality of a specific function of the fuel cell supply means (22) using the result of detection by the condition detection means (42) and conducting operation control in an operation mode corresponding to the content of the abnormality, and operation mode switching means (44) for switching the operation mode to a mode corresponding to the content of the abnormality.

摘要: A polyelectrolyte fuel cell having a gas channel, a proton channel and an electron channel formed in the vicinity of a pole in a catalyst layer to increase a reaction area, and comprising a hydrogen ion conductive polyelectrolyte film, and a pair of electrodes each having a catalyst layer sandwiching the hydrogen ion conductive polyelectrolyte film and a gas diffusion layer in contact with the catalyst layer, wherein the catalyst layer of at least one electrode contains carbon particles each supporting a noble-metal catalyst, and the carbon particles consist of at least two types of carbon particles being in mutually different dispersion conditions and having a hydrogen ion conductive polyelectrolyte adsorbed thereto.
