摘要:
One porous electrode base material for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises: short carbon fibers which are dispersed in random directions in a substantially two-dimensional plane and have a fiber diameter of 3 to 9 µm; an amorphous resin carbide which binds said short carbon fibers; and a filamentary resin carbide which further cross-links said short carbon fibers, wherein said porous electrode base material has a thickness of 150 µm or less. Furthermore, another porous electrode base material for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises: short carbon fibers which are dispersed in random directions in a substantially two-dimensional plane and have a fiber diameter of 3 to 9 µm; an amorphous resin carbide which binds said short carbon fibers; and a network resin carbide having a minimum fiber diameter of 3 µm or less which further cross-links said short carbon fibers.

A carbon fiber paper comprising carbon fibers exhibiting a surface area ratio of 1.05 or higher; and a porous carbon electrode substrate for fuel cell comprising this carbon fiber paper as a constituent. The electrode substrate for fuel cell has carbon fibers uniformly dispersed therein and is flexible. The carbon fiber paper is suitable for production of the electrode substrate.
摘要:
A carbon fiber paper characterized in that it comprises an organic polymer compound as a binder and carbon fibers including fine fibers having an average diameter of less than 5 µm and an average fiber length of 3-10 mm, a porous carbon electrode base material for fuel cells having a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 mm, a bulk density of 0.3 to 0.8 g/cm3, a rate of strain of 10 mm/min, a bending strength of more than 10 MPa measured by a three-point bending test under the condition that the distance between the supports is 2 cm and the width of the test piece is 1 cm, and a deflection of the bending is 1.5 mm or more, and a method for producing a porous carbon electrode base material for fuel cells by impregnating the carbon fiber paper with a thermosetting resin, (setting the thermosetting resin by heating under pressure, and carbonize the resin are disclosed. The electrode base material has an excellent softness and an excellent bending strength, can be formed into a roll and produced with high productivity. The carbon fiber paper is preferably used for manufacturing the electrode base material.
摘要:
An apparatus and process for producing a resin-impregnated cured sheet which comprises continuously curing a continuous uncured fibrous sheet obtained by forming short fibers into a sheet and impregnating it with an uncured resin; and an apparatus and process for producing a carbonaceous material sheet which comprises continuously carbonizing the cured sheet. The carbonaceous material sheet is excellent in handleability and transportability and is capable of being wound. The continuous uncured fibrous sheet (1a) is conveyed by a conveying means comprising at least one pair of rotating belts (2) each comprising a drive roll (2a), a driven roll (2b), and an endless belt (2c) running on and between these rolls, and the resin is cured between heating/pressing rolls or between the endless belts. The resultant resin-impregnated cured sheet is then continuously conveyed in a horizontal direction to a carbonization chamber and carbonized therein to produce a carbonaceous material sheet.
