The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of thermoplastic fibrous materials comprising forming at least one foamed liquid comprising water and at least one foaming agent, forming a dispersion by dispersing fibers including long fibers in said at least one foamed liquid comprising water and at least one foaming agent, mixing the dispersion with a foamable liquid or dispersion comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer, forming at least one foamed dispersion, and conveying the foamed dispersion or dispersions to a foraminous support and draining liquid trough the foraminous support to form a web or a sheet, to obtain the thermoplastic fibrous material. The invention also relates to materials and products obtainable by the method, and uses related thereto.

An inorganic fiber paper includes inorganic fibers, chopped glass fibers and a binder system containing both inorganic and organic binder components. The binder system contains a low content of the organic binder that imparts suitable handling properties and tensile strength to the inorganic fiber paper without causing the paper to emit a flame when used in demanding high temperature environments. The inorganic fiber paper can be used for a variety of automotive and industrial thermal insulation applications.

A method of making an electrochemical cell electrode substrate includes creating an aqueous or dry mixture of chopped carbon fibers, chopped cross-linkable resin fibers that are still fuseable after being formed into a felt, such as novolac, a temporary binder, such as polyvinyl alcohol fiber or powder, forming a non-woven felt from either an aqueous suspension of the aqueous mixture or an air suspension of the dry mixture, by a non-woven, wet-lay or dry-lay, respectively, felt forming process, a resin cuπng agent, such as hexamethylene tetramine may be included in the mixture, or it may be coated onto the formed felt, pressing one or more layers of the formed felt for 1-5 minutes to a controlled thickness and a controlled porosity at a temperature at which the resin melts, cross- links and then cures, such as 150°C - 200°C, and heat treating the pressed felt in a substantially inert atmosphere.

A filtration fabric which is composed of 15.0 to 100.0 % binder fiber, 0.0 to 85.0 % pulp portion, 0.0 % to 15.0 % latex binder or other stiffening agent. A filter media made of the fabric has an improved flow rate averaging no more than 21 seconds, while maintaining an average sediment retention of 70 % and minimum wet burst strength of about 40 psi to about 50 psi, preferably about 50 psi.
