    摘要: A method for preparing 4-hydroxy-1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidine which method comprises the following steps:

    (i) reacting 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine with a compound selected from formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde and trioxane, optionally in the presence of formic acid;
    (ii) neutralising the reaction product obtained in step (i) by adding a base thereto to obtain a crude product and an aqueous layer; and
    (iii) after the neutralisation, separating the crude product from the aqueous layer and crystallising and filtering the crude product to obtain crystals of 4-hydroxy-1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidine having a water content of 3% by weight or less.
