摘要: A system for thermoforming an article, the system comprising: a heating station (2210); a cooling station (2212); a carriage (2216); and a negative pressure generation system (2214), wherein the negative pressure generation system (2214) is adapted to at least partly seal the article inside a forming material (2220) by exposing the article to a pressure less than atmospheric pressure, wherein the negative pressure generation system and the heating station (2214) are cooperatively adapted to expose the article thermal energy, and the pressure less than atmospheric pressure while the article is at least partly sealed inside the forming material(2220); and wherein the negative pressure generation system (2214) and the cooling station (2212) are cooperatively adapted to expose the article to a temperature less than that experienced in the heating station (2210) while the article is at least partly sealed inside the forming material (2220) and exposed to the pressure less than atmospheric pressure.

摘要: A process for manufacturing an article, comprising: receiving a first element comprising a low processing temperature polymeric composition, and/or receiving a second element comprising a high processing temperature polymeric composition; placing at least a portion of each element on a molding surface; increasing a temperature of the entire article to a temperature that is above the melting temperature T m of the low processing temperature polymeric composition (which is 80-135 °C) and below: 1) the creep relaxation temperature T cr ; 2) the heat deflection temperature T hd ; and 3) the Vicat softening temperature T vs of the high processing temperature polymeric composition (which are each at least 10 °C greater than said T m ); and then, while the at least a portion of the article remains on the molding surface, decreasing the temperature of the entire article to below said T m , thereby forming an article. 摘要: Processes and systems for thermoforming articles of wear are disclosed. The process can include utilizing a negative pressure generation system to seal an article in a forming material thereby compressing the forming material onto the outer surface of the article. The process can also include exposing the sealed article to an increased temperature followed by exposure to a decrease temperature, while maintaining the compressive force of the forming material on the outer surface of the article. A positive pressure can also be applied to the sealed article while undergoing the heating and/or cooling steps, which can facilitate the removal of bubbles from the article during thermoforming as well as apply additional compressive force to the outer surface of the article.
