摘要: A process for manufacturing an article of footwear, or component thereof (1500). At least a portion of a first element comprising a low processing temperature polymeric composition, and at least a portion of a second element comprising a high processing temperature polymeric composition are placed on a molding surface. They are covered, at least in part, with a vacuum bag (2010) and/or a protective sheath. While they are on the molding surface, a temperature of the entire article (1500) is increased to a temperature that is above the melting temperature of the low processing temperature polymeric composition and below at least one of: 1) the creep relaxation temperature; 2) the heat deflection temperature; or 3) the Vicat softening temperature of the high processing temperature polymeric composition. While the at least a portion of the article (1500) remains on the molding surface, the temperature of the entire article (1500) is decreased to a temperature below the melting temperature of the low processing temperature polymeric composition, thereby forming the article. The sole structure includes a lasting board and sole plate construction. One of the lasting board and sole plate may have an opening along the center such that there is little to no overlap, or lamination, between the lasting board and the sole plate along the center of the article of footwear. Such a construction may eliminate weight while maintaining the support provided by the layers of the sole. Additionally, such a construction may enhance flexibility. In some embodiments, the article of footwear may include an insole. In some embodiments, the sole structure of the article of footwear may consist of an insole, a lasting board, and a sole plate.

摘要: A sole structure for an article of footwear comprises a midsole body having a proximal surface and a distal surface. The midsole body has a first set of holes extending through the midsole body from the proximal surface to the distal surface, a second set of holes extending through the midsole body from the proximal surface to the distal surface, and a cleft extending partway through the midsole body between the first set of holes and the second set of holes. The sole structure for an article of footwear further comprises a plurality of proprioceptive elements, each proprioceptive element disposed in a different hole of the first set or of the second set, and translatable relative to the midsole body along a central axis of the respective hole in a direction toward the proximal surface under a force along the central axis at a distal end of the proprioceptive element; a connecting web integral with the plurality of proprioceptive elements at either proximal ends or distal ends of the plurality of proprioceptive elements such that the connecting web and the plurality of proprioceptive elements are a single, unitary component; and in combination with a sock overlying the connecting web such that the proximal ends of the plurality of proprioceptive elements translate into a foot-receiving cavity of the sock.

摘要: An ultra-lightweight sole plate assembly can include a ground engaging outer shell, a structural component, and one or more cleat members. A method of making the outer shell includes thermoforming a foil material such as polyamide. Thermoforming the foil includes applying vacuum to the foil material. Excess foil material can be trimmed from the outer shell. The structural component can be made by injecting a molding material onto the outer shell. The cleat members can be co-molded with the shell during forming of the structural component. The resulting sole plate assembly has a reduced weight with the desired traction, strength and durability.
