A scroll type compressor includes a housing (11), a fixed scroll member (41) and a movable scroll member (45). An elastic member (71) is formed in an annular and planar shape and is fixed in the housing (11) on a side of a back surface (65a) of the movable base plate (65) so as to slidably contact the back surface (65a) of the movable base plate (65) of the movable scroll member (45) at a sliding region of the elastic member (71). A facing wall (64b) is provided on a side opposite to a side of the movable scroll member (45) with respect to the elastic member (71). A first space is formed between the elastic member (71) and the facing wall (64b) for allowing the elastic member to be elastically deformed. The elastic member (71) is elastically deformed toward the facing wall (64b) by press-contacting the movable scroll member (45), whereby the movable scroll member (45) is urged toward the fixed scroll member (41).

A control valve used for a variable displacement type compressor. The compressor has a crank chamber (5), a discharge pressure zone, and a supply passage (28). The supply passage (28) connects the crank chamber (5) to the discharge pressure zone. The control valve is located in the supply passage (28). The control valve has a valve body (41). The valve body (41) adjusts the size of the opening of the supply passage (28) in accordance with the discharge pressure. The valve body (41) is exposed to the pressure of the supply passage (28). The valve body (41) moves in accordance with the discharge pressure such that the displacement is varied to counter changes of the discharge pressure. The direction in which the valve body (41) moves in response to an increase of the discharge is the same as the direction in which the valve body (41) moves when the pressure of the supply passage (28) increases.
