摘要: The invention relates to a handover method in a mobile communication system in which error correction of a radio signal can be arranged with different protection levels. The method comprises measuring the signal level and/or quality of base stations (BTS) in a mobile station (MS), the signal quality and level of the mobile station (MS) at the base station (BTS) is measured, comparing measurements results thus obtained and other variables of the connection with handover criteria, and handover is performed from the source cell to the target cell, when the handover criteria are met. The invention is characterized by determining at least one handover criterion depending on error correction of the radio connection. The invention further relates to a mobile communication system for performing handover.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of allocating a home cell to a subscriber station of a cellular radio system. For choosing the best possible cell as the home cell for the subscriber station, the subscriber station is freely allowed to use any radio cell or a certain limited group of several optional radio cells within the system. When the subscriber station establishes a connection through a given radio cell, an identifier indicating the radio cell being utilized is stored in a register. The radio cells, the subscriber station has utilized the most, are identified on the basis of the data stored in the register, and at least one of said radio cells, the subscriber station has utilized the most, is allocated as the home cell to the subscriber station.

摘要: The invention relates to a digital data transmission system with a circuit-switched data connection (V.110) between a transmitting party (A) and a receiving party (B) the nominal data transmission rate of which may vary during the call. A sliding-window data flow control protocol is used on the data connection, in which a number of transmitted data frames to which the transmitting party (A) has not received an acknowledgement from the receiving party (B) is not allowed to exceed the size of the sliding window. In accordance with the invention, a unit (MSC) in the data transmission system that changes the nominal data transmission capacity (data transmission rate) of a non-transparent data connection notifies the change to the transmitting party (A) and to the receiving party (B). This information enables the receiving and transmitting parties to change the size of the sliding window in a controlled manner.

摘要: The invention relates to a handover method in a mobile communication system in which error correction of a radio signal can be arranged with different protection levels. The method comprises measuring the signal level and/or quality of neighbouring base stations (BTS) at a receiver of a mobile station (MS), comparing the measurement results thus obtained and other variables of the connection with handover criteria, and performing a handover from the source cell to the target cell, when the pre-set handover criteria are met. The method of the invention is characterized by determining at least one error connection possible for the connection in a potential target cell for the handover, determining at least one handover criterion on the basis of the determined error correction of the potential target cell, and setting the error correction of the connection in the target cell (BTS2) as said error correction of the base station of the target cell. The invention further relates to a mobile communication system for performing handover.

摘要: A digital mobile communication system has a high-speed non-transparent data connection between a transmitting and a receiving party. For the data connection, parallel subchannels, corresponding in number to the nominal data transfer rate, have been allocated on the radio interface. A radio link protocol is responsible for transmitting data over the radio interface, and for acknowledging correct data frames and for retransmitting defective data frames. A transmission buffer buffers the data frames to be transmitted and stores the data frames transmitted until it receives an acknowledgement of successful reception. In order to reduce interference and power consumption, user data is transmitted by using as many of the allocated subchannels as required by the actual user data rate at any one time. On the other allocated subchannels, transmission is interrupted or discontinuous transmission is applied.

摘要: The invention relates to a digital data transmission system with a non-transparent circuit-switched data connection (V.110) between a transmitting (A) and a receiving party (B), whose nominal data transmission rate may vary during a call. The data connection uses a sliding-window data flow control protocol involving transmission of data frames in a preset order, checking the order of received data frames based on this order information, acknowledgement of properly received data frames and retransmission of incorrect or missing data frames. The transmissing party (A) may temporarily group the data frames, whereby the resulting 'wrong' order of frames inside the group or between groups may cause unnecessary retransmissions. In the invention this is eliminated so that the receiving party (B), upon detection of a missing data frame, delays the transmission of a retransmission request for a period of time that will ensure that the missing frame has not been sent later.

摘要: A typical feature of high-speed data transmission in a cellular radio environment is that it is strongly unidirectional. In accordance with the present invention, a connection can be adapted to this fact so that the connection is asymmetric, providing a large transmitting capacity in the direction in which the most of the data stream is passing, whereas in the opposite direction, the transmitting capacity is smaller. The transmission and reception time-slots are arranged asymmetrically so that transmission and reception do not take place simultaneously. Upon establishing a connection, the mobile station informs the network of its maximum capacity regarding reception and transmission, whereby the network calculates an appropriate time-slot configuration. First, a symmetric connection consisting of a specific number of channel pairs is allocated in the same way as in a prior art HSCSD method. Thereafter, only the required time-slots in the transmitting and receiving directions are used, still keeping the unused time-slots allocated.

摘要: The invention relates to a digital telecommunications system, and particularly a method for non-transparent data tranmission. There is a non-transparent data connection (V.110+L2R/RLP) between a transmitting party (A) and a receiving party (B), on which channel coding is employed. The transmission buffer buffers the data frames to be transmitted and stores the transmitted data frames until it receives an acknowledgement of successful reception. In accordance with the invention, this is avoided by monitoring the quality of the non-transparent connection, and if the quality of the connection drops to a specific threshold value, by changing the channel coding scheme of the connection for a more efficient one. Simultaneously, however, more channel capacity is allocated for the connection in according with the chosen channel coding scheme so that the original nominal user data rate can be maintained unchanged or nearly unchanged.
