Abstract:
A communication protocol system is provided for reliable transport of packets. A content addressable memory hardware architecture including an acknowledgment coalescing module in communication with a content addressable memory (CAM). The acknowledgment coalescing module coalesces multiple acknowledgement packets as a single acknowledgement packet to reduce the overall numbers of the packet transmission in the communication protocol system. In addition, the acknowledgment coalescing module may also provide a piggyback mechanism to carry acknowledge information in a regular data packet. Thus, the need to generate a new acknowledgement packet may be eliminated. Accordingly, the network congestion and latency may be reduced, and the communication and transmission efficiency are enhanced.
Abstract:
A method for handling timers in a wireless communication system includes starting a Timer_Poll_Periodic timer for a Radio Link Control Acknowledged Mode (RLC AM) entity, performing a reset procedure for the RLC AM entity, and restarting the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer in response to the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer expiring prior to completion of the reset procedure. The claimed invention also specifies appropriate handling of eight other timers after an RLC reset or re-establishment in order to prevent the RLC AM entity from experiencing deadlock or reduction in quality of service.
Abstract:
Fast channel changing in digital-television-based entertainment networks can be implemented, for example, by electing to tune to channels at opportune tuning times. In an exemplary implementation, a method includes: receiving a channel change request that indicates a requested new channel from a client device; preparing a broadcast video data stream of the requested new channel that is offset in time behind a current broadcast time for broadcast video data of the requested new channel; and streaming the broadcast video data stream responsive to the channel change request. In another exemplary implementation, a system includes: a storage device (408A) that retains broadcast video data (410) for multiple channels; a video data extractor (416) that accesses the retained broadcast video data and retrieves an intra frame of broadcast video data that is in the past for a requested channel; and a video data distributor (418) that transmits the retrieved intra frame of broadcast video data.
Abstract:
A method for wireless communications is provided that includes generating an index for a plurality of packets for use in a first radio link for transmission to an apparatus; transmitting the plurality of packets using a second radio link to the apparatus; determining transmission state information indicating whether each packet in the plurality of packets have been received by the apparatus; and transmitting additional packets based on the index and the transmission state information. Apparatuses for performing the methods are also disclosed.
Abstract:
To increase the utilization of the radio link and to provide a low complexity approach to retransmission control with respect to a fragmenting transmission protocol and a stream of data packets considered for data transmission, there is provided a method of retransmission control with respect to a fragmenting transmission protocol and a stream of data packets considered for transmission. The method comprises the steps detecting (S12) data packets in the stream of data packets which are unnecessary retransmissions based on sequence numbers of the data packets, dropping (S14) data packets which are unnecessary retransmissions from the stream of data packets for setup of a modified stream of data packets, and transmitting (S16) the modified stream of data packets over a transmission link.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a data transmission and feedback processing method and apparatus. The data transmission and feedback processing apparatus of the present invention includes: a first receiving module, configured to receive a data packet sent by a second device, where the data packet carries a sequence number SN; an identification module, configured to identify an exception by the first device according to scheduling information corresponding to the received data packet and the SN carried in the data packet; and a feedback module, configured to determine the exception by the first device and send a feedback message to the second device, where the feedback message carries an SN, so that the second device retransmits a data packet to the first device according to the SN. The embodiments of the present invention resolve a problem that present uniform HARQ retransmission times cannot meet QoS requirements of different services, so that HARQ retransmission requirements for QoS of different services are met.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to the communications field, and provide a data retransmission method and apparatus, which can improve efficiency of data retransmission and reduce a retransmission delay. The method includes: sending, by a splitting end apparatus, data to a convergence end apparatus by using a first link; and when it is determined that a data unit that is not received by the convergence end apparatus exists in the data, instructing, by the splitting end apparatus, the first link to stop transmitting, to the convergence end apparatus, the data unit that is not received by the convergence end apparatus, and retransmitting the data unit to the convergence end apparatus by using a second link. The embodiments of the present invention are used for data retransmission.
