摘要: Race rings wheels (1,2) of a rolling bearing are formed of any one titanium alloy of beta , near beta , and alpha + beta titanium alloys. Titanium alloy has a surface hardness of Hv400 to Hv600 to enhance the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the race rings wheels. A roller (3) which rolls over the race faces (1a,2a) of the race rings (1,2) is formed of a ceramic such as silicon nitride. Use of beta titanium alloy or alpha + beta titanium alloy subjected to solution treatment and oxidized at a low temperature of 400 to 600 DEG makes it possible to produce race rings made of titanium alloy preferable to use in the environment which require corrosion resistance.

摘要: A rolling bearing unit for supporting a wheel, wherein, as an embodiment, a flanged member (hub wheel 2) is formed of an alloy steel having one or more types of C of 0.5 to 0.65 wt.%, Mn of 0.3 to 1.5 wt.%, Si of 0.1 to 1.0 wt.%, Cr of 0.01 to 0.5 wt.%, S of 0.035 wt.% or less, V of 0.01 to 0.2 wt.%, Nb of 0.01 to 0.15 wt.%, and Ti of 0.01 to 0.15 wt.% and the remaining Fe and unavoidable impurities and having an oxygen density of 15 ppm or less, the surface hardness of an inner ring railway track (7a) forming a hard layer is Hv 650 to 780 and the surface hardness of the portions thereof not forming the hard layer is Hv 230 to 300, whereby the durability ratio (fatigue limit/tensile strength) of the flange (6) can be increased by limiting the composition of the alloy steel forming the flanged member (hub ring 2), the surface hardness and surface roughness of the axial outer surface side root portion (14) of the flange (6) to reduce the weight of the unit by reducing the wall thickness of the flange (6) without impairing the fatigue strength, machinability, and workability after forging.
