The controller (60) also provides ECP commands on the train electrical terminal (19) in response to pressure on the locomotive brake pipe port (12) and provides electrical power on the train terminal from the locomotive electrical trainline terminal (18). The car electrical terminal (19) is connected to the ECP trainline (110) for providing ECP commands and power to the ECP equipped train devices. The controller may also control an emergency valve (50) to produce an emergency signal on the locomotive brake pipe port (12). A transition valve (58) on the brake pipe port allows bi-directional connection of the interface system.
