摘要: A method of providing a location estimate for a mobile station in a wireless communications network. The method of providing the location estimate includes implementing, in parallel, a plurality of different location estimate generation methods, each location generation method generating a location estimate. The method of providing the location estimate also includes selecting one of the location estimates based on predetermined criteria.

摘要: A method of generating a location estimate for a mobile station in a wireless communications network, the method comprising: receiving first measurement data relating to at least one radio link between the mobile station and a first site and providing a first distance estimate of the mobile station from the first site based on the first measurement data; receiving second measurement data relating to at least one radio link between the mobile station and a second site and providing a second distance estimate of the mobile station from the second site; determining first and second intersection points between a circle centred at the first site of a radius corresponding to the first distance estimate and a circle centred at the second site of a radius corresponding to the second distance estimate, said first and second intersection points lying on opposed sides of a line passing through the first and second sites; and using at least one of the first and second intersection points in the determination of the location estimate.

摘要: The invention relates to a radio system and a method for optimizing resources in a radio system. The method comprises: transferring (402) transport network information about traffic in a transport network of the radio system to a radio network of the radio system, the transport network connecting network elements of the radio network and the radio network to a core network of the radio system; a serving network element of the radio network routing (404) a telecommunications connection of user equipment via the serving network element to the core network. The method further comprises adjusting (406) between the serving network element and the user equipment the telecommunications connection of the user equipment, based on the transport network information.

摘要: The present invention concerns a method and system for avoiding unnecessary handovers, relocations and/or anchoring during packet calls in a wireless telecommunication system. Data to be sent to a mobile terminal is stored in a data buffer. The data is sent to the mobile terminal when the amount of data in the buffer exceeds a predetermined threshold value. When a relocation or anchoring request is received, relocation or anchoring is performed only if one or more conditions are fulfilled. The conditions are preferably timers or adaptive thresholds. In a preferred embodiment, anchoring is performed only if a first timer has expired and relocation is performed only if the first and the second timers have both expired. When a handover is done, it triggers either anchoring or relocation. Therefore, the present invention lowers the number of handovers needed, and thus the number of anchoring and relocation cases.

摘要: The present invention concerns a method for radio resource management for packet data in a radio communication system. According to the method packet data to be transmitted is received. Further according to the method radio resources are managed for the packet data to be transmitted. Further according to the method transport layer protocol source port number is retrieved from the packet data to be transmitted, port number specific statistical models of traffic associated with various transport layer protocol port numbers are generated, and radio resources are allocated for the packet data to be transmitted based on the retrieved port number and its associated statistical model.
