The first guide wall includes a bottom edge, which is located at a distance from the cell bottom, so that a clearance gap is formed between the bottom edge and the cell bottom. The arrangement also includes a second guide wall essentially parallel with the first guide wall and placed at a distance therefrom. Between the first guide wall and the second guide wall an uptake shaft is formed extending diagonally upwards at the inclined angle. The second guide wall is pressed tightly against the cell bottom, and includes a number of vertical slots.

The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for performing hydrometallurgical processes under pressurised conditions. The apparatus consists of a tall vertical reactor (2) and a pressurised horizontal reactor (3) located beneath it. The vertical reactor (2) for its part comprises two nested tubes, so that the upper part of the inner tube (4) is equipped with a downdraft mixer (6) and elements (17) that intensify the absorption of the supplied gas into the slurry, such as Venturis. The slurry is fed into the inner tube (4) to flow downwards and the reaction gas is fed into the upper part of the inner tube (4) at one point at least. The vertical reactor (2) is connected at its lower section to an autoclave-type horizontal reactor (3), which is equipped with effective radial mixers (7) to keep the slurry suspension in motion and to achieve an upflow to convey the slurry suspension into the outer tube (5) of the vertical reactor (2). In the method accordant with the invention the length of contact time occuring under pressure between the gas and slurry is extended by means of the horizontal reactor (3).

The aqueous solution is treated in a settling tank, where it is made to flow through a flow channel area with a reduced cross-section that extends over the width of the tank at least at one point. The flow channels are located in the lower section of the droplet coalescer according to the invention, with the upper section of the device being mainly solid.

The invention relates to a method and equipment with which an organic solution extraction solution is purified from entrainment of aqueous solution and impurities during hydrometallurgical liquid-liquid extraction. The method treats an organic extraction solution, which is loaded with a valuable metal or valuable substance from the aqueous solution. The extraction solution is scrubbed with an acidic aqueous solution. The acidic solution is discharged into the tank in several separate sub-streams. The flow diverts from horizontal to vertical and the direction of the separated solutions is deflected by means of picker fences (13, 14). The organic solution and the aqueous solution are removed in separate sub-streams. A settler comprises several discharge elements (12) for organic solution and suction elements (16, 24) for removing organic solution and aqueous solution respectively.
