摘要: An engine (100) includes first and second power inputs (20, 24), and a power output (22). A transmission (26) includes an epicyclic gear train (30) engaged with the first power input (20) and selectively engageable with the power output (22). The gear train (30) has a sun gear (34) centrally disposed and defining a center axis (32) of the gear train (30), a ring gear (38), and planet gears (36) mounted to a carrier (37). The planet gears (36) are rotatable about respective planet gear axes (36A). The planet gears (36) are disposed in meshed engagement with the sun gear (34) and the ring gear (38). A brake (40) engageable in a first position with one of the sun gear (34), the carrier (37), and the ring gear (38) slows a rotation thereof to transfer power from the first power input (20) to the power output (22). The brake (40) in a second position is disengageable from the sun gear (34), the carrier (37) or the ring gear (38) to decouple the first power input (20) from the power output (22).

An epicyclic carrier assembly (40) comprises a gear support member (42) and a coupling adapter (44). The gear support member (42) is adapted to rotatably support the plurality of gears (38) on axles (41) between first and second axle ends. The gear support member (42) has at least a first connecting member (50). The coupling adapter (44) is disposed concentrically with the gear support member (42) and has a second connecting member (52). The second connecting member (52) is engaged with the first connecting member (50) to structurally join the coupling adapter (44) and the gear support member (42). The first and second connecting members (50, 52) are mounted to one another in a plane between the first and second axle ends.

In a second engine mode, the drive shaft (30) is drivingly engaged to the LP shaft (23) and is disengaged from the HP shaft (43), the LP shaft (23) is in driving engagement with the AGB (50) via the drive shaft (30), and the HP shaft (43) is disengaged from the AGB (50).

摘要: A torque transfer assembly (12) adapted for use in a planetary gear train is provided. The torque transfer assembly (12) comprises generally a planetary carrier (42) and a torque transfer coupling adapter (44). The planetary carrier (44) is adapted to rotatably support the plurality of planet gears (38) between a first and second planes (48a, 48b). The planetary carrier (42) also has a first connecting member (50) extending therefrom. The torque transfer coupling adapter (44) is disposed concentrically and rotatably with the planetary carrier (42), and has a central torque output element (54) and a second connecting member (52) extending from it. The second connecting member (52) is adapted to be engaged with the first connecting member (50) to structurally join the coupling adapter (44) and the planetary carrier (42), the first and second connecting members (50, 52) being structurally joined together between the first and second planes (48a, 48b).
