Thus, it is possible to omit a process for punching or perforating the insulating polymer film to form a space for accommodating the electrode plate, and also possible to prevent the insulating polymer film from being wasted due to a punching or perforating process.

A separator for a secondary battery electrode assembly according to the present invention is positioned between a cathode plate where a cathode terminal is protruded and an anode plate where an anode terminal is protruded and blocks a current flow between the cathode plate and the anode plate, and includes an extension portion which is extended so as to be overlapped with one or more terminals of the cathode terminal and the anode terminal. With a separator filim for a secondary battery and a secondary battery including the same according to the present inventioin, it is possible to prevent a cathode terminal or an anode terminal from being brought into contact with an anode plate or a cathode plate, respectively, even if the cathode plate and the anode plate are slightly dislocated, and it is possible to maximize a battery capacity by minimizing a volume of the separator, and also, it is possible to considerably reduce the possibility of occurrence of a short circuit even if an active material grows according to a chemical reaction.

A case for a secondary battery according to the present invention to achieve the above-described object includes: a can which includes a lower plate and an upward side wall extended upwardly from the lower plate so as to form an inner space with an open top; and a cap which includes an upper plate and a downward side wall extended downwardly from the upper plate so as to form an inner space with an open bottom, and isolates the inner space of the can from the outside by inserting a lower end of the downward side wall into the inner space of the can so as to be mounted on an upper surface of the lower plate, wherein a reinforced connection unit in which a section of the downward side wall is wrapped with a section of the upward side wall is included in order to improve a connection force and a sealing property when the can and the cap are connected. The case for a secondary battery according to the present invention enables a reduction in product size due to simplication of a combination structure between a can and a cap, an improvement in connection force and sealing property between a can and a cap, and an improvement in conductivity with respect to an electrode assembly.
